I'm gonna go broke. :D

Tourneing Hell

I wonder how you're actually supposed to spell tourneing...Or if that's even a word...
Anyhow, I shouldn't quite call it hell. Skills II (there's Skills I, II, and III here, the first two being kitchen basics; I is soups and sauces; II being more entree-y and III is a production kitchen where we're serving students...the same stuff we made in Skills II) was tourneing hell. This was just a pain, doing 70 tournes between myself and one other person.
What is a tourne you ask? This:

(Why did a picture of Micheal Jackson show up in my search for "tourne potato"?)
They must have seven sides, all consistent widths , and have an even curve (no balls or blocks; footballs) and the ends must also be equal in size.
Anyyyyhooooooooooow, otherwise, a good day. I had my usual chef (I've spent the last three classes with a different chef...did I mention that my current chef isn't the one I'm supposed to have had? Long story), which is a good thing.
Tomorow I have my written exam and my practical. .___.

Oh! And I have a new charrie with a new story. ^^ Here she is:

Her story is "Holding Glass".

Random Post is Random

Intelligent title right there.

Anyhow, bugging you all (haha, 'cause obviously, there IS an "all") since I like ranting and haven't in a while.

Jumping right into it...

School is insane.

Absolutely, positively insane.

I know a lot of people say that, but I don't think anything compares to the CIA. Seriously.
Well...It's easier than working at a normal restaurant in some respects. You have twenty people in a kitchen, 3-4 people per station and are expected to only put out 20 orders per that station. Now, for those who have NO idea what I'm talking about, a slow day at an average restaurant you're working the station by yourself and you may have over 100+ people walk in, any one of those people quite capable of ordering ANYTHING from what your station produces (which will be multiple dishes, guaranteed).

You are expected to know SO MUCH and the classes are only 3 weeks a piece on average.

I'll probably rant a lot more often; I'm missing writing so much. :(

Speaking of, I may join a few writing communities here...anyone know any?
And now, since I'm so used to my tumblr, I'll leave you with an epic song. ^^ Voice sound familiar? >3

ARG, I suck.

I went missing.
Not that that isn't usual, and this time I had major things going on (family member passed away, dad totaled his car, got the job of my dreams on top of my other job), but damn, I feel guilty. Oh, and I'm sick as a dog, so this all may make no sense. :D
So I've gotta ask, what've you guys been up to? Anything interesting?
And because I never come without bearing gifts, but have no new music uploaded at the moment (totally open to suggestions and requests!) I'll just post the fun little writing challenge I did the other day. Because I'm a writer. And it's what I do.

So the challenge is:

1. Pick a character, fandom, pairing, friendship, whatever.
2. Put on your music program on shuffle/random and start playing songs.
3. For each song, write something inspired by the song related to the theme you chose earlier. You only have the song length. No pre-planning and no writing after the song is over. No skipping songs either.
4. Do 10 songs and post. Make sure to include the song name/artist.

My theme is meh novel, Rain.
My lame attempt under the cut.Collapse )
Oh yes, I made the wierdest mix ever. It's for an old Hawaiian tale. And it's mostly rock. BOO YAAH. -shot-

1. Catch and Release - Silversun Pickups
2. I Don't Mind - Phantom Planet
3. In Too Far - Acceptance
4. Map Of The Problematique - Muse
5. World Spins Madly On - The Weepies
6. A Walk Through Hell - Say Anything
7. Raise the Dead - Phantom Planet
8. Rakuen (Paradise) - Yoko Kanno*

So, what the frick is Hiku and Kawelu? It is a short Hawaiian legend/tale that can vary from telling to telling, but to get the jist of it look here.
Why the heck did I make a fanmix to it? Weeell, you see I'm a writer and I like everyone of my characters to have meaningful names so I stole Kawelu's name and I'm using it shamelessly. So naturally I know the legend. Then I was staring at the picture that I made into the cover ((c) Dirk Karsten, by the way) thinking, You know what? That reminds me of that story...I should use it! 8D And here we are.
Anyways, Enjoy!

So, these are a bunch of my all-time favorite songs that I kinda just threw together. I didn't upload the artwork on the music files themselves, or change their CD names/track numbers because I know that there are people like me out there that just want to listen to the songs with the original info. But I did try to arrange them in an order on the tracklist that tells a story, though I'm not exactly sure what that story is. XP
EDIT: Just realized I put a live, cruddy version of Sunday's Best up there instead of the nice, pretty album version. Here's the individual song (info and artwork changed, sorry D:): "Sunday's Best" - Augustana
Hope you enjoy, and comments are always awesome!
